The Ministry of Public Health reminds the population that the third booster of the vaccine against COVID-19 in Salta, that is, the fifth dose, is available in hospitals, health centers and mobile vaccination posts.
The province is among the top 10 in the country with the most people vaccinated with this booster. According to the data provided by the Public Vaccination Monitor, 51,597 people from Salta received it.
This application is aimed at:
- People over 50 years of age, pregnant women and immunocompromised people: The booster is administered 6 months after the last dose and then continues with the same frequency.
- People under 50 years of age with chronic diseases, health personnel and strategic personnel: It is given 6 months after the last application and then the periodicity is annual.
- People between 6 months and 49 years: The booster is inoculated 12 months after the last vaccine received and will then have an annual frequency.
The director of Primary Health Care, Juan Pablo Castillosaid that “the boosters are necessary to sustain protection and prevent the development of severe forms of the disease.”
Vaccines in Salta
The Ministry of Public Health exceeded 3.1 million doses applied against coronavirus. It is the eighth jurisdiction that administered the most biologicals, behind the province of Buenos Aires, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, and the provinces of Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Mendoza, Santa Fe and Tucumán.
