Salta launches its flu vaccination campaign.

During the week, the doses for the pediatric and adult population will be distributed to all operational areas. The vaccine is free for people at risk, according to national guidelines.

The Province has already received from the National Ministry of Health a first batch of 29,760 doses of vaccines for the adult population, and today the arrival of 44,440 pediatric doses is expected.

The Immunization program of the Ministry of Public Health will distribute the doses in all operational areas of the provincial territory, so that the vaccination campaign begins on Friday the 17th, simultaneously throughout the country.

The head of the Immunization program, Adriana Jurésaid that the population of Salta to be vaccinated in this campaign is around 300 thousand people, including children and adults.

The official explained that the doses, which will be placed free of charge, are intended for:

  • Health personnel, both public and private
  • Over 65 years.
  • People with chronic respiratory diseases, diaphragmatic hernia, COPD, congenital emphysema, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis and others that the treating physician indicates.
  • People between 2 and 64 years old with risk factors or chronic diseases: with morbid obesity, diabetes, with chronic renal failure.
  • Under 18 years of age with severe developmental delays.
  • Pregnant and postpartum people up to 10 days after delivery, if they did not receive the vaccine during pregnancy.
  • Children from 6 to 24 months of age. They should receive two doses 28 days apart.

Regarding the importance of people receiving the flu vaccine, the Head of the Immunization program recalled that “being vaccinated reduces complications, hospitalizations, health sequelae, and death.”
