Inna Tähkänen, who became a mother last spring, tells Iltalehte about the observations of her daily life as a baby.
Secret lives familiar from the series Inna Tähkänen, 33, is on parental leave for just a couple of weeks. Tähkänen had her first child with her actor spouse 11 months ago Julius Martikainen with.
Tähkänen tells Iltalehti that baby life was just the kind of life change she needed.
– Last year I felt like I had a lot of work, so this was a really welcome change. But now I find myself wanting to go back to work, says the actor.
– There is more staying at home: you can be at home and think about what life is about, he adds.
The actress reveals that she was most surprised by her baby’s lack of fun.
– How comical babies are, they’re really funny. For example, they suddenly decide to just drop things like porridge and then it’s everywhere. It makes you wonder how these things can happen. Tähkänen says.
– Now my baby is in such a phase that he is looking for eyes. If I look away, he seeks my eye contact. When he gets it, he starts to smile or grimace. I was surprised at how babies come up with these things. Babies are funny, he says with a laugh.

Despite the parental leave, Tähkänen has not left work completely. The actor did his first directing job this spring. Stähkänen thought that combining work and everyday life with a baby would be more challenging.
– In fact, they probably balanced each other out. I felt like I could fully immerse myself in my work and use a different part of my brain, but when I came home I wanted to be and play with my child. I learned to be present in a completely different way. That transition might have felt more wild if I had immediately jumped into a permanent job when my child was three months old, the actor reflects.
However, Stähkänen does not claim that combining work and everyday life with a baby has always been simple.
– In the middle of the working day, I ran to Sokos, where my husband brought the baby. I breastfed and ran back to work, the actor says with a laugh.
– My mother-in-law was also a great help. She sometimes came to visit Tampere for a week when my husband had to travel or work, she emphasizes gratefully.

The couple has also taken Tähkänen’s summer theater work into account in their arrangements. The actor will be seen My wife Maurice -in the summer theater play, in which his Salkkarit colleagues also act Sami Uotila, Teemu Lehtilä, Sampsa Tuomala, Monika Lindeman and Pete Lattu.
– My husband will then be on parental leave, so he can be at home all summer. Fortunately, we managed to get things sorted out so that he doesn’t have to leave his projects. He is also a freelance actor, so he can’t always leave in the same way, but there is work when there is, he says.
Tähkänen does not feel social pressure that he would do something wrong as a parent when he sometimes leaves his children in care while he works.
– Maybe I feel more sad that my baby will be okay. But the baby won’t get confused or think I’m leaving him. Of course, I’ve always tried to be present when I could. And everything has gone really well, says the actor.
– I feel that in our case it helped me to be a better parent when I was able to do something else. At the same time, I try to see it so that my baby can also be with his grandparents and immediately create a safe and deep relationship with other adults, he continues.
