Salimkumar’s iconic dialogue from Puliwal Kalyan was written by: Shafi
Puliwal Kalyanam is a 2003 film directed by Shafi. The movie starring Jayasurya and Kavya Madhavan as the lead characters is one of the best comedy movies in Malayalam. Although Jayasuriya is the hero of the film, many people still watch Manavalan and Dharmendra’s comedy scenes again and again. Salimkumar as the groom and Kochin Haneefa as Dharmendra.
Director Shafi talks about a scene of the groom and Dharmendra in the film. Shafi says that the scene where Kavya goes to Madhavan’s house and talks badly about Jayasuriya to Kavya’s father, Salimkumar and Kochin Haneefa was shot at two in the night.
Shafi said before taking another shot before taking that shot and before that he asked Salimkumar to find two or three words. Shafi said when he returned and captured the scene, Salimkumar told him that he was a global icon, a social activist and a winter spy, and he didn’t know what that meant.
Puliwal was shooting for a wedding at two in the morning. Hanifaka and Salimkumar should go to Jayasurya’s lover’s father and say something about this Jayasuriya. Before shooting at night, I told Salimkumar to come up with two or three new words. I will take this picture. Saying this I went to take a shot.
I went and captured that scene and when I came back and captured the next shot, Salimkumar said he is a global visionary, social activist and winter fritter. I didn’t understand it myself after hearing it. But it was a conversation that suited the occasion and created a lot of laughter in the theatre,’ said Shafi.
