Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – National car sales in September broke the sales record in one month with 84,113 units. This achievement is 73.24% higher year-on-year (yoy) from September 2020 sales.
Meanwhile, sales for the January-August period rose 68.67% yoy to 627,537 units of cars sold.
The government’s stimulus push through PPnBM (Sales Tax on Luxury Goods) 0% seems to have succeeded in stimulating the enthusiasm of the Indonesian automotive industry. Seeing that the program is bearing fruit, the government has decided to extend the granting of a 100% PPnBM discount until the end of 2021.

Toyota became the most popular brand in September by placing eight of its car models out of the top 10 best-selling cars. Toyota has a sales portion of 40.6% of total car sales in September 2021.
The car of a million people, the Toyota New Avanza 1.3 G 2019, is the best-selling car champion in 2021. Sales of the Avanza in September 2021 are 3,608 units with total sales for 2021 are 21,700 units. Avanza has a market share of 6.2% of total national car sales and is the largest.
The Avanza sales grew tremendously, amounting to 1,270.3% year-on-year (yoy) compared to September 2020 sales.
There are three new car models that immediately occupy the top position, namely New Rush1.5 GR Sport 2021, New Rush 1.5 GR Sport A/T 2021, and Veloz 1.5 GR Limited 2021. Although they are still ‘children yesterday afternoon’, the sales growth of these three cars remarkable.
New Rush1.5 GR Sport 2021 model registers 117% sales growth month-to-month (mom) since the first launch in August.
Meanwhile, New Rush 1.5 GR Sport A/T 2021 grew 86% mom and Veloz 1.5 GR Limited 2021 grew 321% mom.
