Jakarta, Selular.ID – More than a month after their release, the third generation foldable devices Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are now on track to reach 1 million unit sales in their home country, South Korea. The achievement is claimed to be achieved by the end of this week, according to a report.
This record is an impressive one, and similar to what Samsung has achieved in the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S8 series, and several other smartphone series with sales records of 1 million units in their home country.
The Z Flip3 is the more popular unit, beating the Z Fold3 by a 2-to-1 ratio. Not surprising, perhaps because the Z Flip3 is the more affordable model. This also makes the Z Flip3 the best-selling foldable phone in South Korea to date.
However, the success of the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 was certainly unexpected, the duo surpassed the Galaxy S21 and Note20 series in terms of pre-orders in South Korea with a total of 920,000 units pre-ordered. Of these, 270,000 were activated on the first day of the pre-activation period, setting a new record for Galaxy devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 bring a number of new features and changes, from water resistance, a tougher body and hinge, to improved hardware and camera specifications.
In Indonesia, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is sold at a price of Rp. 25 million for the 12/256 GB version and 27 million for the 12/512 GB variant. While the price of the Samsung Z Flip3 is priced at Rp. 15 million for the 8/128 GB version and Rp. 16 million for the 8/256 GB variant.
