No more gluing highway coupons to the glass, but registration and subsequent payment via the Internet. Most drivers welcome such a change.
In addition to the online store, it can also be purchased in self-service kiosks near the border. It is also possible to buy in person at post offices.
“The fundamental thing that every motorist would certainly welcome would be that the motorway stamp will not be tied to a calendar year,” traffic expert Dalimil Frič told Nova TV.
This means that if the car owner buys a stamp in June, he will pay it until June next year. An SMS message will then alert you to the expiring validity. The annual electronic stamp costs CZK 1,500, the monthly fee CZK 440 and the 10-day fee CZK 310. For natural gas cars, only CZK 750 should be paid.
Some cars, such as electric cars, will be spared from having to buy a new electronic highway sign. Owners of veterans or the disabled do not have to buy the stamp either.
“In Slovakia, the system of motorway stamps has been operating for the fifth year, in Hungary, the system of electronic stamps has been operating for more than ten years,” added Frič.
Everything will be checked by cameras at the toll gates. Highway patrols will fine sinners.
