Salerno, Vitale swimming pool in degradation: hope in “Sport and Suburbs”

The turning point It had been long-awaited but it arrived suddenly, in a council meeting in which the Common he was only ready to try to patch up the many problems of the city schools. And, instead, yesterday the team of assessors led by the mayor Vincenzo Napoli also approved the technical-economic feasibility project for the “redevelopment and energy improvement works” from the Simone Vitale swimming pool on Tafuri seafrontthe sports facility perhaps a symbol of the degradation in which activities are carried out in the city.

In fact, for some time now, the Tower structure shows signs of time and, above all, of a lack of constant maintenance: a situation which, on several occasions, has led to a halt in activities, not only those youth and amateur but also those of the city water polo teams, forced to find some alternative solutions – often in an emergency – to be able to hold official competitions. Now, on the horizon, there is a possible turning point: in recent months, the Authority has given its offices the mandate to produce a preliminary design. Based on what was analyzed, the need for interventions to be 1.3 million euros to restore the main city swimming pool.
