Salerno, the nourishment construction site becomes a show

The construction site has come to life and has now become a real attraction. All it takes is a walk on a weekday along the seafront in the eastern area, particularly during the hottest hours, to witness an almost unexpected phenomenon. Many, many “umarells”, in fact, take their places on the walls of Tower to observe the work in progress for area 2 of the coastal defense and nourishment intervention, the maxi construction site for the transformation of the coast in the stretch between the Nautical Center and the mouth of the Irno river.

An intervention already seen elsewhere, particularly in the easternmost part of the city, but which had never attracted such great attention. Every afternoon, in fact, dozens and dozens of people crowd to observe the movements of barges and cranes, the unloading of material to create sea barriers, and the transport of trucks. A “construction site-show”therefore: garlic “aficionados” in fact, many elderly people, not only from the neighborhood, or simply curious people who spend their afternoons observing what the workers do, have queued up to tan all year round. An additional element, therefore, for one of the works considered by the Municipality – but also by the citizens – to be most strategic for Salerno. Which, in the meantime, are progressing at a good pace. In fact, work is being concentrated in Torrione where, for more than a month now, work has been underway to build the protective barriers at sea.
