Salerno, the evicted barber reopens his shop: «Silence from the Municipality»

The efforts, the sacrifices but also all the hope and obstinacy of Antonio D’Amico they are located at number 135 via Nizza where the new salon is due to open soon barber. Because after 18 years, due to the quarrels between the owners of two buildings next door (also respectively owners of the shop and an apartment above) and their old – and never remedied – rusts, the craftsman from Salerno, highly esteemed owner of the barbershop at the 159 B in via Irnohe had to close his shop. And he was literally left in the middle of the street without the possibility of ensuring even a minimal income for his family.

The move

But despite the injustice suffered and the fear of seeing all the sacrifices of a life disappear in an instant, D’Amico found the strength to react and get back up and, thanks to the support of his wife, he managed to find a place where he could restart its activities. An achievement which, however, was not easy. And that leaves other consequences. «Unfortunately – the barber’s outburst – we had to go into more debt to be able to feed our children and continue paying the mortgage. We strengthened ourselves because we understood that otherwise we would have nothing from anyone», the bitter consideration.
