Salerno, fireworks dump in via Allende

While initiatives to keep the Salerno coastline in the best condition continue, the problems of degradation continue, caused by those who, without any respect for the environment, leave waste – often dangerous – on the shores or near the beaches. And the images of the latest “clean up” by the volunteers of “I want a clean world”the youth collective coordinated by Fat Ronca which, for years now, has been going to the most hidden corners of the municipal territory to clean it up. On Saturday, the activists reached the land that precedes the rocks that stand out on via Allende, in the most peripheral part of the city.

Discovering a real landfill of fireworks: near the beach, in fact, dozens and dozens of boxes of pyrotechnic material, previously used, were left. In total, the activists of “I want a clean world” have even removed 113 kilos of used pyrotechnic material. «Shameful scenes on the coastal road in Salvador Allende Street. It is not the first time in five years that we have removed large quantities of fireworks batteries in this area (but also elsewhere), and as you can see, unfortunately nothing has changed. “Addó vede, addó ceca”, that’s how it works here», the harsh comment published alongside the photos shared via the social page. A post that has met with the indignation of many Salerno residents who, in addition to pointing the finger at the indiscriminate abandonment of this waste, have recalled how the “tradition” of setting off fireworks at night, despite protests and requests for intervention by the police and the municipal administration, remains difficult to eradicate.

A situation that, therefore, also stains the commitment carried out in these days by Salerno Pulita, the company that deals with urban hygiene led by Vincenzo Bennet which, in line with what is contained in the service contract with the municipal administration, is continuing its beach cleanup operations. Cleaning operations that have intensified in view of the August week where, inevitably, a boom in attendance on the city beaches is expected: in the past few days, in fact, the workers appointed by “Pulita” have carried out operations on the beaches of Baia, Santa Teresa but also in the eastern area at Mercatello.
