A firefighter from Salerno ends up in the sights of the Court of Auditors: the jurisdictional section for Campania presided over by Paolo Novelliin fact, in recent days it has condemned a red helmet from the city of Arechi to pay in favor of the Ministry of the Interior of 13.500 euro for damage to the treasury caused by having carried out extra-institutional professional activities without the necessary authorization. According to what was reconstructed by the accounting judiciary after a report from the Financial Police, in fact, the firefighter from Salerno, in fact, carried out a double job: not only the “ordinary” one between autoclaves and sirens but also a consultancy activity for a company who deals with services relating to energy and the development of production systems.
The case highlights the legal consequences of behavior considered to be in violation of current regulations. The story of the Salerno firefighter emerged from a summons filed by the regional prosecutor’s office, which requested the man was sentenced to pay 15,595.45 eurosa sum that included the revaluation of the compensation received for unauthorized assignments. The investigation, as mentioned, was started following a report from the Financial Police, which highlighted how the employee of the National Fire Brigade had received compensation for external activities, violating article 53 of Legislative Decree 165 of 2001 which clearly establishes that public employees cannot carry out unauthorized commercial or professional activities.
