Salerno, even puppeteers end up in the sights of thugs

«I’m 52 years old, I can’t go to war with these people. I’m exhausted». These are the regretful and almost resigned words of Mario Ferraiolothe last descendant of the historic family of puppeteers which, since time immemorial, has entertained children (and not only) of Salerno and the province with traditional shows. The Ferraiolos gave (and give) many smiles. But they are forced to deal with people who don’t seem to appreciate their art. On the contrary. Once again, in fact, the structure of Piazzetta del Marinaio, at the beginning of Trieste seafront and a few steps from Piazza della Concordiawas targeted by someone who thought well of turning it into a makeshift shelter.

Yesterday morning, in fact, Ferraiolo went into the theater box early to start the activities in view of the weekend’s shows. And he found, once again, an unpleasant surprise: inside the structure, in fact, he found a person sleeping. A foreigner who did not limit himself to that illegal occupation. He damaged the chairs, some internal structures, a tent. He left the remains of a frugal meal consumed in there along with other substances. It is not the first time that Mario Ferraiolo has found himself facing such a situation, finding people camping in his structure. And yesterday, fed up with this trend, he scolded the foreigner who tried to attack him, before requesting the intervention of the police. The officers arrived on site Salerno Police Headquarters who took the occupant to the barracks for checks.
