Driving safety: rain of fines Salerno. In compliance with the operational directives issued by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Salerno, as also specified in the circulars of the Department of Public Safety, a service was carried out yesterday by the Agents of the Upgsp and the Traffic Police Section of Salerno, who implemented a joint safety device to prevent and combat driving behaviors that negatively impact safety and cause accidents. In particular, the patrols were employed on Trieste waterfront and, in general in the city centre, with the primary aim of verifying the correct use of radio equipment and telephones on board vehicles.
They have been 26 people and 25 vehicles checked: overall 46 fines were issued, for a total of 150 points deducted from the driving licence of driving offenders.
In a few hours they were surprised well 23 drivers who used their smartphones while driving: the same ones received the sanctions provided for by the Highway Code of 165 euros, for the reduced payment, and the deduction of 5 points. The current legislation also provides for an accessory administrative sanction for repeat offenders, who face the suspension of their license from 1 to 3 months in the event that they commit another violation of the ban during a two-year period.
“Respect for the Highway Code is an example of respect for the sense of legality that should inspire all responsible citizens: driving prudently, without adopting behaviors that put one’s own life and that of others at risk, is a cardinal and basic principle for laying the foundations for peaceful social coexistence” declared the Police Chief Conticchiowhich reminds especially adults to remember that their conduct is an example and model that the younger ones will follow, and therefore it is necessary that they adopt correct and moderate behavior in all circumstances.
