The next lite a Salerno on Friday evening in Torrione, in Piazza Gian Camillo Gloriosi in Torrione. According to an initial reconstruction, three boys from the Ivory Coast – one of them working in a pizzeria in the neighborhood – were returning to their home when near the square, just before 8.50 pm, they were allegedly confronted by a group of five or six of their peers, also immigrants, some minors. All this in front of a local bar, with exchanges of blows, chairs thrown and blind beatings, despite the presence of elderly people and children. It is not known why the fight broke out: i three young people from the Ivory Coast ran away towards the seafront Marconi, chased by some of the attackers along via Mantenga.
Many residents, in the meantime, have notified the police and 118. Three young people were rescued by a White Cross ambulance, although one of the Ivorians did not suffer any particular damage other than the beatings. The other two, however, they were hit with a small knife or other cutting weapon and another boy with a bottle on the head which caused wounds that healed in 10 and 12 days. The diagnosis was drawn up by the Ruggi hospital, where the two injured were taken to a 118 ambulance which rescued the two unfortunates near the Marconi seafront car park.
More patrols from the flying section of the Salerno Police Headquarters immediately arrived on site and subjected some people to checks, including a young Moroccan. We interviewed some of the protagonists and witnesses of the brawl to precisely reconstruct the reasons that led to the attack and identify any responsibilities. In yet another riot in the eastern area, students and workers who are well integrated into the Salerno community have come out the worst.
But, in the meantime, the residents of the area around Piazza Gloriosi can no longer stand this climate of violence. From the pre-covid complaints about the widespread drug dealing activity which also took place inside the buildings where condominium owners witnessed the intrusions of those who exchange doses with buyers, to the fights, shouting and shouting. Often the arguments arose due to the sale of drugslike when some young people from Salerno attacked with hammer blows some peers of the Neapolitan who had complained about the poor quality of the “joints” purchased. In the post-covid period nothing has changed. Fights also occurred during the White Night, once again with young people as protagonists, this time children not from disadvantaged families. Now the new episode that amplifies the climate of violence in one of the main squares in the eastern area of the city.
