Salerno, assistance at the pole: Pnrr funds at risk

The Campania risks losing approximately 500 million of euros from the funds of Pnrr for healthcare if the target is not reached 5% of patients over 65 with at least one chronic pathology for which scheduled home care (ADP) is activated by general practitioners. There are only two Healthcare companies in Campania who achieved their goal, Caserta e Naples 3 South (Vesuvian area), while the remaining five are still stuck at 2,5%: among these there is therefore also theAsl Salerno. However, time is running out: the recovery mission, in fact, must be completed no later than December 31, 2024 and for the Salerno area it means assisting others at home 8 thousand patientsbeyond the same number already followed. To reach the minimum target of another 8 thousand people to be taken care of, it is necessary that i 750 general practitioners of the province of Salerno – in practice family doctors – each take on ten other patients with certain characteristics. An objective that would be easily achievable if the health districts were also more efficient in asking their affiliated professionals to proceed with this mission and if some doctors were more available, following the indications of Fimmg and the other unions.

The meeting

In the meeting held last Thursday at the headquarters of via Nice of the ASL, the general director Gennaro Sosto launched an appeal to reach this target, gathering the favorable opinion of the doctors’ unions. It’s not just a question of money: for the regional health system, not achieving this 5% it means losing a substantial loan which, on the contrary, would allow for greater assistance, with visits to your family doctor at least once a month. In this way, assistance to cardiac, nephropathic, diabetic and hypertensive patients would increase, reducing the risks linked to pathologies but also causing a reduction in access to Emergency roomwhich have long been swamped especially by users with pathologies who receive the less serious “codes”. Many doctors, however, underline that the ADP is still insured but that time and even human resources are often needed for the onerous bureaucratic part resulting from the visits, i.e. the registration on the appropriate platform.
