A brown stripe that stretches from the former prisons to the Arechi Castle splits the green pine forest in two under the hot sun. And here the burnt pines are the sign of a before and after on the Bonadies hill. Because the signs of the fire, certainly of a malicious nature, started last Wednesday, have not only left visible wounds on the hill that dominates the oldest part of Salerno but it has created a whole series of additional safety problems along the so-called Sentiero del Principe. Safety dangers that extend right up to the Castello Arechi, the symbol of the city that, now, precisely because of the consequences of the fire, has been closed to the public until further notice.
The note
«The decision – we read in a note from the Province of Salerno, Owner of the Castle – it became necessary after the sector note School Buildings and Heritage of the Authority on August 7th which, following an inspection, highlighted how in the last few hours new problems have appeared due to unexpected and unforeseeable dangerous situations following the fire of July 31st. At the moment therefore – the note specifies – the necessary safety conditions do not exist for both visitors and staff: the castle will remain closed until the entire area has been made completely safe.».
