The Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno is preparing to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On Monday, at 7 pm, at the Cathedral of Salerno, a Holy Mass will be celebrated in memory of the victims and “to ask the Lord for the conversion of hearts”, announced the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, His Excellency , Monsignor Andrea Bellandi. For the occasion, the bell tower of the cathedral will be lit up in red.
«Violence against women, unfortunately, shows no sign of decreasing and what is reported is only the tip of the iceberg of this phenomenon of inhumanity and incivility. – he observed SE Monsignor Bellandi – Those who resort to violence, in this case almost always men and often family members or people emotionally linked to the victims, show themselves to be weak people, slaves to their own instincts and incapable of building healthy relationships based on freedom and respect.”. The Archbishop, therefore, addresses his appeal to “anyone who works in the field of education, information, culture and entertainment to take on “thehe great responsibility of conveying messages, values, concepts of life that express the inviolable dignity of every human being, who has the inalienable right to exercise free choices not imposed by others. Even less through violence, both physical and psychological”, ha concluded HE Monsignor Bellandi.
