With a second half all heart there Salernitana scores a 2-2 comeback against the Sassuolo in the match that opened the 31st day of A league. The Granata were two goals down in the first half and managed to come back thanks to goals scored by Candreva on a penalty and Maggiore. But it is a point that is of little use in the battle for survival with Colantuono’s team remaining in last position.
Salernitana-Sassuolo, the report of the first half
Mister Colantuono who asked his men for a surge of pride, lines up the Granata with the 4-4-1-1 with Candreva behind Emphasis. On the other side Ballardini responds with a 4-2-3-1 with Pinamonti only offensive reference. The match starts at a slow pace with the two teams studying each other without offending and the game staying on the midline. But it is the Granata who are the first to become dangerous in the 16th minute Pierozzi who tries a cross shot that puts him in difficulty Advice who saves himself by pushing away with his fists. The guests respond with a series of counterattacks but never manage to actually get a shot. But the match could be unblocked in the 28th minute Pinamonti, unmarked in the center of the area, collects a cross from the right and throws the ball undisturbed behind Costil. However, the referee, with the help of the VAR, annuls the goal due to offside return Defrel. Pinamonti himself tries again in the 32nd minute but from the center of the area he unleashes a right-footed shot which goes just over the goal defended by Costil. But the neroverdi unlocked it in the 36th minute with Lauriente: Bajrami starts on the counterattack from his own penalty area and reaches the edge of that grenade, serving the 25-year-old who only in front of Costil scores for the lead. Four minutes later the opportunity to double the lead comes to Pinamonti’s feet but his sure shot is blocked by the Granata defenders. The doubling was only postponed for a few minutes because he thought about it in the 43rd minute Eid to exploit the error of Pirola in postponement and to pierce Costil. After a minute of injury time the first half ends with the Granata returning to the locker room under the boos of the Arechi crowd.
Salernitana-Sassuolo, the report of the second half
The second half begins as the first 45 minutes ended with the guests pressing and first with Pinamonti and then with Laurentie but both times the ball ends up high. Salernitana, however, when you least expect it, in the 52nd minute, closes the gap with Candreva from the disk that shocks Advice: penalty awarded for foul on Pierozzi. Sassuolo tries to react and risk the Granata in their own half and in the 55th minute they come close to scoring a trio with Laurentie who shoots with a sure shot but Costil he is good at blocking with his foot. Ten minutes later Sassuolo once again threatened with a shot Defrel from just inside the area: the shot is powerful but not precise and ends just wide of the goal defended by Costil. The match slows down and depends on the individuals’ ideas, as happens with Laurentie who enters the area from the left and releases a shot which Costil is called upon to deflect into the corner to save the goal from capitulation. But right at the end, Maggiore equalises: it is in the 92nd minute when the midfielder, following an assist from Zanoli, alone in the area he doesn’t make mistakes. The Granata also try to win it and a minute later Vignato has a good opportunity but shoots high from a good position. On the opposite side the neroverdi try again but Costil is miraculous at the top Pinamonti before the referee’s final whistle which seals the final 2-2.
