Salem Al-Dosari…from a rejected talent to winning the Best in Asia award
Saudi Salem Al-Dosari was crowned the best player in Asia, on Tuesday, at the ceremony held in the capital, Doha, after competing with Al-Moez Ali, the Qatari national team and Al-Duhail club player, and Matthew Leckie, the Australian national team and Melbourne City club player.
Al-Dosari, a player for the Saudi national team and Al-Hilal club, shone remarkably in the 2022 Qatar World Cup and with his club in the AFC Champions League, crowning his distinguished efforts last year by winning the most prominent award in the yellow continent.
Al-Dosari equaled the record recorded by the legend Sami Al-Jaber, by scoring three goals in the World Cup finals, as he scored a goal against Mexico, after his global goal against Argentina, in addition to his goal in the 2018 World Cup against Egypt.
According to the Goal website report, Al-Dosari’s career at the beginning was not ideal, like that of many of the stars of the round, after he was rejected by one of the Sunni coaches of the Saudi Al-Faisaly team, due to his lack of conviction in his talent.
The beginning of brilliance
This failure did not discourage the Saudi football star, as he later moved to the “Al-Asiri” center, from which Al-Nasr Club draws its talents, but Al-Hilal blocked the path to Al-Alamy and succeeded in including the player in the end.
After a 43-day training period with the Al-Hilal youth team, during which he was put on probation, the officials of the Saudi football giant refused to sign him, because they were not convinced of his potential, but the opinion of the team coach changed everything, and the player then began his journey of brilliance, and joined the first team, before he left. He was loaned to the Spanish club Villarreal in 2018, and returned after only one year to lead Al Hilal to win the AFC Champions League title for the third time in the club’s history, before the journey of creativity continued with the club and the Saudi national team.
