UNUSUAL – During the first action of Sale – Toulouse this Saturday, the two pillars of the Sharks Simon McIntyre and Nick Schonert attempted a two-man tackle on Matthis Lebel but telescoped. Head to head, the two pillars remained on the ground for a few seconds, bleeding and somewhat stunned. They’re both out on concussion protocol.
Nineteen seconds of play. This is the time it took Simon McIntyre and Nick Schonert, the two pillars of the Sharks, to come out on concussion protocol against Toulouse this Saturday. Just after the kickoff given by Sale, Matthis Lebel initiated a raise and passed between McIntyre and Schonert. But the latter two, trying to tackle the Toulouse winger, ran into each other head to head and ended up on the ground, their faces bleeding. A rather surprising image and an action that cost Sale dearly since in the end, the two pillars had to leave on concussion protocol and were replaced by Bevan Rodd and James Harper.
Note that neither of the two pillars was able to return to the lawn and that the two substitutes were therefore forced to play almost the entire match.
Below are images of the clash between the two players:
