Sale of medicines on the Internet, allowed only to authorized pharmacies

The legislative proposal for amending and supplementing Law no. 266/2008 on how pharmacies work and how medicines are sold stipulates that the Ministry of Health exercises control and supervises the sale and release through the information society service of medicines that are dispensed without a prescription, writes Agerpres.

According to the initiative, the display of the emblem or the company of the pharmacy and drugstore by unauthorized units constitutes a contravention and is sanctioned with a fine from 10,000 to 20,000 lei.

It also constitutes a contravention and is sanctioned with a fine from 30,000 to 50,000 lei and the closure of the pharmacy, the operation of the unit without authorization issued by the Ministry of Health and the possession or release in drugstores of certain drugs whose possession and release are prohibited.

The legislative proposal was rejected by the Senate last year. The Chamber of Deputies adopted the legislative proposal as a decision-making body with 240 votes “for” and one abstention.
