SIA “Salaspils Siltums” in cooperation with the group of energy companies “AJ Power” expands the possibilities of obtaining solar energy in the company. In the coming months, the company will sell another solar panel park, which will provide electricity for self-consumption. According to the company, the project plans to install 270 solar panels on the ground with a total capacity of 100 kW, which will produce at least 900,000 kWh for the company in the next 10 years.

The establishment of SIA “Salaspils Siltums” solar panel park has already started. It will be one of the largest solar panel parks in the region and the green electricity it produces will be used to ensure the company’s self-consumption.
Taking care of the environment and implementing the company’s energy management policy, in 2017 “Salaspils Siltums” implemented its first solar panel project. To produce green electricity, 86 solar panels with a total capacity of 25 kW were installed on the roof of the company’s building, which has saved the company 436.5 tons of CO2. In 2019, the company continued the green course and implemented a large-scale project, installing a solar field with 1,720 solar collectors, an accumulation tank and a 3MW wood chip boiler house. After the implementation of the project, 90% of the produced heat energy is produced from renewable energy sources, including 20% - from solar energy.
“Looking to the future, we must take bold steps today to achieve the desired results. Thus, “Salaspils Siltums” is moving step by step towards the use of fuel-free technologies in its operations. By installing solar panels and solar collectors, we are fully convinced that solar energy has great potential. By implementing this project, on days when the sun will shine, we will be able to say that the entire process of obtaining heat energy will be provided from the sun, ”said Ina Bērziņa-Veita, Member of the Board of SIA Salaspils Siltums.
““ Salaspils Siltums is a great example of sustainable company management. The targeted integration of solar energy solutions into the company’s operations over the years has allowed it not only to reduce CO2 emissions and the overall impact on the environment, but also to become more independent of other energy resources, ”adds Roberts Samtiņš, head of the energy company group AJ Power.
“Within the framework of the project, a five-year kWh productivity guarantee for the solar panel system has been established, for which we, the solar panel installer, are responsible. Solar panels are a long-term investment, so it is important to focus on the amount of electricity produced by solar panels, and this is a reliable indicator of performance that will guarantee the productivity of the project. ”
