Salary Report: How Much Top Managers in the City of Hamburg Earn | NDR.de – News

Despite the coronavirus crisis, top managers of large urban companies made good money last year. This emerges from the 2021 remuneration and participation report for public companies in Hamburg.

Overall, the gap between board members’ salaries and median income has narrowed slightly, but Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) CEO Angela Titzrath still earns around ten times more than other employees.

When it comes to remuneration, HHLA head Titzrath continues to lead the list with around a million euros a year. Titzrath’s board colleagues are in second to fourth place, each with more than 700,000 euros. The head of the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital (UKE), Burkhard Göke, remains in fifth place, with nearly 570,000 euros.

The mayor gets much less

In 2020, airport chief Michael Eggenschwiler had slipped to the bottom of the top earners list. This was because he had given up his variable remuneration due to the Corona crisis. In 2021 he regained sixth place with around half a million euros. Behind them are the head of the Hochbahn Henrik Falk and Jens Meier, head of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA). For comparison: Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) gets around 200,000 euros a year.
