Robert Lewandowski has not only been one of the top European stars this year. However, the former manager and current advisor Michael Reschke does not believe that he deserves like the two world-class players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
This is what he says on the podcast My Bavaria week on Sport1. Michael Reschke was Technical Director at FC Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2017 and thus came at the same time as Robert Lewandowski, who was then free to transfer. He said: “A player like Lewandowski will also have a top contract in Munich.” But Reschke also made it clear: “There is a high probability that he will not be in the area of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.”
That’s what Reschke says to Lewandowski
Although Lewandowski undisputedly belongs to this ranks in the current constitution, he is still on another level in the salary area. Reschke explained: “If it had gone into Messi’s or Ronaldo’s salary framework, Lewandowski wouldn’t be with Bayern Munich today.” Nevertheless, the Munich team was able to bind him until 2023: “They managed to make a decision relatively early on and to conclude interesting contractual arrangements with Lewandowski.”
