Salary increase announcement waiting for Prabowo to return from abroad

The Ministry of Manpower has stopped announcing an increase in the minimum wage of the sector (UMP) for 2025 as planned. The UMP increase should be announced on Thursday 21 November 2021.

The Ministry of Manpower is still working on regulations that will become a reference for calculating the UMP. According to the President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, discussions on the UMP will be held after November 25 or after President Prabowo Subianto returns from a trip abroad.

“In fact, we agreed after November 25, after the President returns to Indonesia, that the discussion about salary will continue,” said Said Iqbal to detikcom, Saturday (23/11/2024).

He said that December 30, 2024 may be the date for the announcement of the UMP. Likewise, the President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPN), Ristadi also said that the Minister of Personnel Yassierli was still waiting for Prabowo to return to Indonesia.

“The Minister of Personnel is waiting for the President to return from abroad because he wants to first tell what the government will decide, because the issue of increasing salaries is a strategic issue which every year is always marked by labor demonstrations and there is a lawsuit against him. each other,” said Ristadi.

Ristadi believes that the Ministry of Personnel will be very careful and is still looking for a solution to the differences in wishes between employers and employees regarding the increase of the UMP. This is also to avoid conflict of interest.

“Yes, we hope to issue new technical regulations soon that will create a fair increase in the minimum wage so that it can be used immediately as a guide to calculate the minimum wage,” said Ristadi

Meanwhile, the President of the Association of Indonesian Trade Unions (ASPIRASI) Mirah Sumirat still hopes that the UMP will be increased to 20%. This is to maintain people’s purchasing power which contributes to the economy.

“In fact, the 20% is for the 2025 UMP increase, the 20% increase is just to help fellow MSMEs to buy their products. Now his salary is cheap, so he is still looking for products that are cheap. That is why he buys goods. online that are actually imported products,” he concluded.
