Salamanca taxi drivers will install 371 anti-Covid screens
The Junta de Castilla y León yesterday began the process of delivering 371 anti-contagion screens to Salamanca taxi drivers.
For this, the Territorial Secretary of the Territorial Delegation of the Board in Salamanca, Fernando Díaz, met yesterday morning with the representatives of the taxi sector in the province, thus formalizing the delivery of said protective protections.
The dozen taxi drivers that operate in the municipalities of the alfoz were represented by María Isabel Fernández Santiago, while the Radio Tele Taxi Salamanca Association, which brings together 223 professionals, was represented by its president, Manuel Egido, during the event held in the Delegation Territorial.
In total, the autonomous community’s taxi fleet will receive 2,333 screens.
This figure is equivalent to the set of taxi licenses authorized by the Junta de Castilla y León, thus guaranteeing protection for all members of this sector in the region.
Taxi drivers will soon have these screens for free. This is an investment of the Ministry of Development and Environment amounting to 147,136 euros.
Easy-to-install screens
The devices are easy to install and can be done independently.
The main objective of the Board is to promote a barrier between workers and users that guarantees the health of all the members of the vehicle and the rest of the citizenry.
The territorial secretary stressed that the delivery reflects the support that the Board provides to companies and workers in the region. “The purpose is to achieve effective prevention measures to fight against covid-19”.
The 2,333 screens are made of a transparent, waterproof, colorless and recyclable material, which has great resistance and toughness against wear.
The screens will protect drivers against possible attacks with chemical products, as well as any type of impact, breakage or flammable material.
It is a device adapted to universal measurements, to the technical specifications of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and with a simple fixing system.
Since these are removable or temporary elements, an authorization indicating that the screens meet the vehicle approval requirements is not required.
The distribution will be made through the Territorial Delegation, either through the sector associations or at the individual request of the workers.
Each taxi driver will receive their corresponding protective barrier in individual packaging, with their corresponding assembly instructions.
The Board considers it imperative to take this type of measure during this stage of the pandemic, in which the use of the taxi service increases and the safety of its workers is put at risk.
