Liverpool have put the stumbling block behind them in the last period to easily win 2-0 against their host Rangers on Tuesday and advance to second place in the first round of the Champions League.
The win, thanks to a superb free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half and a Mohamed Salah penalty at half-time, brought the six-time Liverpool champions six points to second place, three points behind leaders Napoli, who crushed Ajax Amsterdam 6-1.
Rangers, who posed no threat to Liverpool’s goal and frustrated their fans who traveled behind the squad, are the bottom of the table with no credit.
Needing a boost after a bad start in the Premier League, Liverpool’s offensive quartet Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were better than Rangers, while Scottish striker Alfredo Morelos was isolated in attack.
