Sala Consilina, the highway police stops two scammers on the run

State Police personnel, belonging to the Highway Patrol Salernoon August 1st, checked a car and identified two people on board, originally from Naples, believed to be responsible for an aggravated fraud, to the detriment of an elderly person, committed in the province of Anna.

The scam, reported by the victim, was carried out in Villarosa with the usual technique of the fake carabiniere: the self-styled member of the Ama contacts the victim by telephone announcing the imminent arrest of a relative “guilty” of having run over and seriously injured a pregnant woman. The only way to avoid arrest is to deliver, to an employee who would go to the home of the victim of the scam, cash and valuables kept in the house to reach the sum of 600 euro.

Initial investigations allowed the real Carabinieri to track down the vehicle used by the scammers: a rented car. The car was intercepted by a unit of the Highway Police of Consilina Hallon the A2 motorway at the junction Padula-Buonabitacolo. The following were identified on board the vehicle AND AND46enne, e L.R.31 years old, already known to the police. The couple, subjected to a search, were found in possession of cash and jewelry, which turned out to be those stolen from the victim of the scam. The two were reported.
