The assessment that Alexis Tsipras will not interfere in what is happening in SYRIZA was made by his former close associate and current executive of the New Left, Gavriel Sakellaridis.
“Without having spoken to Alexis Tsipras recently, he has understood that he has been burned by the course of the political report” and “will not come forward” he said.
“He understands that his personal involvement would enhance but not be a catalyst to change things. That’s a mature thought. I reckon he’s not going to make a move. He will not come forward, but I expect if he will make some statement-comment about the very serious things in SYRIZA” he added speaking to ONE.
“I consider that the way he remained silent was utilized and exploited by Mr. Kasselakis, it was interpreted as indirect support which in my opinion was not right” he said.
Regarding the problems faced by SYRIZA, Sakellaridis said that “it was a progressive situation that existed, the decline, the attitude of the internal life in the party while phenomena of messianism had emerged for the leader. Therefore, I consider that Mr. Kasselakis is a symptom and not the cause of a decline.”
