Fashion Jr. Sakala has a date with history this Wednesday. The Zambian will play in the Europa League final this Wednesday night in Sevilla against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Sakala left Ostend last summer for an adventure in Glasgow. Tonight, the striker can write history: he can become the first Zambian to win a European final.
“It’s a goal to become the first Zambian to achieve it. Then Zambia will love me. I’m often blackballed on social media there,” Sakala told Gazet Van Antwerpen. “The reason: sometimes journalists call me to pay them to write something positive about me. I don’t do that. So some people start a campaign against me on Twitter.”
“I’ve always been committed to my country. I’ve scored eight times in seventeen international matches, so I really can’t understand. Winning this final would be very rewarding,” Sakala said.
