The popular theater group presented the play “Sajil” as part of the official competition of the 23rd Kuwait Theater Festival, at the Dasma Theater. The work confirms the great interaction in Kuwait with what is happening in Gaza and occupied Palestine, and reveals the brutality and abuse of children and women in the face of the world’s silence.
In its content, the play relied on some facts mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and this was clear and clear from its title, “Sajil”, which are the stones that the “birds of the flock” throw at the armies of Abraha’s Ashram, turning it into “eaten storm.” From this Islamic connotation, the idea of the play came to be victorious. For the Palestinian resistance and praises the steadfastness of its people, it also reveals the dark side of a regular machine that uses killing and destruction as a means to instill fear in the hearts of people, in front of a world that has closed its eyes to what is happening to innocent people in Palestine. The play begins with the sound of the call to prayer and a unified “décor” of an area that turned into ruin as a result of the air raids that bombed homes. Six theatrical elements settle in this besieged place: a woman searching for her infant who lost as a result of an air raid, four men stranded under the rubble, and a man buried under The ruins, and through this tragic scene the events of the play take place, which reveal the various positions: the steadfast, the surrendered, and the traitorous. There are those who sold their house to the occupier, the resistor, who is afraid of the siege, and the deceitful enemy who falsely swears that his salvation will be in theirs, only to discover that it is the destruction that will end… their lives.
Between the exchange of roles and the frequency of events, their rise and fall, the message emerges that confirms that the enemy will remain, and the source of his strength will be our differences, which give him the opportunity day after day without attention.
The theatrical performance, as its author mentioned, is like a scream, in which events rush at times with wisdom and amazement at other times, and chaos that expresses the contradiction and conflict of events. When helplessness became the master of the situation and silence prevailed… “Sajil” was a cry coming from a heart that loves you, and is aching for your pain, hoping it will reach… A kiss on… The forehead of every honorable, free resistor, whispers of love for a child from under the rubble… It does not matter how… the important thing is that you arrive.
With all these events that occur repeatedly in the play’s scenes, the issue becomes completely clear regarding the true meaning of the fight that the work team faced, which the director revealed by saying: Believing that the fight has multiple forms, I chose the stage as a weapon to speak the word of truth and a platform to support the oppressed. It was “Sajil.” “It is a clear message and a cry from the heart… We are with you.
The events in the play are similar to human projections, with sensory interaction and emotional synonyms, and an uprising of conscience in the will to resist, and placing it in the hands of the audience to contemplate it and think about its contents.
While the sound effects played an active role in the events through vocal expression, depicting vocal emotions and air raids, the siege that the heroes of the work experience on stage, and the defeat felt by the strong mother searching for her infant, the lighting also harmonized with the progress of the scenes with continuity and accuracy. It is appropriate for and expressive of the atmosphere. While the decoration interacted with the contents and forms, which are monitored and drawn by the text, through the elements it contained that enriched the work and contributed to understanding its artistic and human path. It is a décor characterized by realism and the ability to depict events in an effective and effective manner.
The actors played their roles carefully, highlighting the internal conflicts in their feelings, which appear in vocal patterns that fade at times and expand at other times, in an expressive human monologue.
“Sajil” comes at the right time, to be a loud cry, perhaps shaking the human conscience, to stop the repeated attacks on the Palestinians.
Noting that the play “Sajil” was the idea of Dr. Nabil Al-Failakawi, written by Faisal Al-Failakawi, directed by Nassar Al-Nassar, music by Muhammad Al-Nassar, lighting by Nassar Al-Nassar, decoration by Hamad Al-Failakawi, and starring Abeer Al-Jundi, Khaled Al-Mufidi, Hassan Ibrahim, Osama Shaaban, Issam Al-Kazemi, and Muhammad Jamal Al-Shatti. .
