Sainz training accident at the Ferrari home game in Monza

Carlos Sainz caused an interruption in Saturday’s free practice session in Monza with a serious accident. The Spaniard crashed into the barrier with his Ferrari at high speed. He had lost control of the car at the beginning of a bend.

The front wing and tip of the car were completely destroyed, and Sainz himself gave the all-clear. “It hurt a little, but I’m fine,” the 27-year-old radioed into the pits. Nevertheless, in accordance with the regulations, Sainz was taken off the track in a medical car, and his Ferrari was put on a van.

The crew had around four hours for the repair work until the sprint race in the afternoon (4.30 p.m., live on ORF1), when the grid for the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday (3 p.m., live on ORF1) is set up.
