After the failed launch of Cyberpunk 2077, gamers have begun to show more appreciation when developers decide to delay the release of their games. Saints Row has announced a six-month delay, from February to August, and feedback since the last gameplay trailer has been nothing but positive.
Back in November 2021, Volition’s chief creative officer said Saints Row needed more time to “live up to the standards we set ourselves.”
“We underestimated the impact of CRV on our schedule even though everyone adapted to working from home very quickly,” wrote Jim Boon. However, due to the size and scale of our new Saints Row, it became clear that in order to create a better game, we needed to give our team more time to perfect their craft.”
Boon promises that the overall story and gameplay of Saints Row will not change, but we will see improvements in terms of “general quality and design.”
And it looks like Boone kept his word. The gameplay trailer revealed last week showed us a game that appears to be ready for the real world, with tons of cool weapons, vehicles, and mayhem. Lots and lots of chaos.
AT post, showing a dramatic difference, 6 months later, Reddit users expressed their appreciation for the delay. “Looks good,” wrote one user. “Very curious how my bosses will look in this game with different light sources, and not just in the editor.”
Saints Row’s Boss Factory is available as a free download so you can start your criminal career by getting your avatar ready on release day. Naturally, people mostly used it to share a bunch of meme characters, but this just goes to show the versatility of Saints Row’s new character customization system.
One eager Saints Row fan is hoping the game will offer 1440p graphics on PS5 and Xbox Series X. We’ll find out for sure when the game launches on August 23rd.
