Saints – Colts (34-7): Drew Brees breaks records in easy win | Touchdown News (NFL News)

New Orleans Saints (11-3) – Indianapolis Colts (6-8) : 34-7

There was no game Monday night in New Orleans. Just a succession of records for Drew Brees and a defensive demonstration of the Saints.

Quarterback number 9 made an incredible 29/30 record for 307 yards and 4 touchdowns. 96.7% of passes completed is simply a record on a game, which beats the benchmark previously owned by Philip Rivers (96.6%). But it’s not even the most important record Brees beat against the Colts. On the first offensive streak of the third quarter, he found Josh Hill in the end zone for the 540th touchdown launched in his career. One more than Peyton Manning, previously the holder of the largest total in history.

What also give the advantage 27-0 to his team in a quiet game. And on the next possession, Brees increased his total to 541 on a pass in the end zone for Taysom Hill. 34-0, move around there is nothing to see. Brees played a bit more, before giving way to Teddy Bridgewater for the final minutes.

Defense found

Just as important as the Brees records, the Saints mostly found a defense. After having cashed 48 points against the 49ers, the men of Sean Payton recovered correctly, by yielding only 205 yards in total to Jacoby Brissett (18/34, 165 yards) and his attack, limited to 3.9 yards per action . In the first half, the Colts’ pitcher only completed 5 of 15 passes, while his ground game gained 17 yards … in 10 races.

Indianapolis had the ball only 23 minutes and did not score before garbage time. The return of TY Hilton (4 rec, 25 yards) did not help. Clearly: an evening to forget, for a team experiencing a difficult end of the season.

New Orleans is far from these kinds of considerations. The objective is the title. This eleventh victory places the franchise on par with the Packers and 49ers, in a big battle for two places ensuring a week of rest in the playoffs. With the Titans and Panthers to complete their calendar, the men of the bayou have plenty of room to finish at the top of the conference.
