Mexico City., There are teams that take the start of a season seriously. The New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings, who thrashed their rivals in the NFL on Sunday, belong to that group of contenders for the final of a competition. Neither is willing to let time pass so quickly.
The Saints scored 30 points in the first half and routed the Carolina Panthers 47-10. The New York Giants suffered a similar fate, unable to stop the Vikings in the third quarter and falling 28-6 in the opening game of the professional American football league.
Derek Carr had a stellar start to his second season as New Orleans’ quarterback. He scored three touchdowns and completed 19 of his 23 passes as his team scored 30 unanswered points to begin its run to the Super Bowl.
The Vikings, meanwhile, were strengthened by a terrific defensive performance led by Honduran coach Brian Flores. They limited the Giants to six points and no touchdowns.
Running back Aaron Jones finished the game with 94 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota.
