HEALTH. The emergency room at Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummondville is overflowing with 28 stretchers out of a possible 19 being occupied.
On January 15, the occupancy rate was 147% according to data from the CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec. In addition, four users are awaiting hospitalization. There are four people waiting for hospitalization for more than 12 hours, three for more than 24 hours and two waiting for more than 36 hours.
On Saturday, the average time to receive services was 9 hours and 42 minutes. During the day, 84 people visited the emergency room.
The occupancy rate of central emergencies is 95%. Provincially, it was observed at 111% on January 15.
Remember that there are several alternatives to emergency, depending on the reason for consultation:
Minor health issue

- Call 811 to speak to a nurse and be assessed. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
- The pharmacist can provide support, answer questions and initiate treatment in several situations;
- Contact their family doctor or medical clinic;
- For orphan patients, simply call the Frontline Access Desk at 811, option 3.
Need to consult for psychosocial support
- Contact Info-Social at 811, option 2 (anxiety, depression, domestic violence, substance abuse, etc.).
Need a screening test
- Get a rapid test from community pharmacies;
- By Internet: cv19quebec.ca or at 1 877 644-4545 to obtain an appointment for priority clients.
