Saint Wendelin
There are the saints among us who have understood a few things.

Today the church commemorates Saint Wendelin, the patron saint of shepherds, farmers, day laborers and farmers. Wendelin was an Iro-Scottish king who came to Trier around the middle of the 6th century in search of a place where he could serve God. He is said to have lived as a shepherd and hermit. According to legend, he managed to persuade a selfish and domineering landowner to live a God-fearing life. Wendelin was very good with animals. Several miracle stories report his healing care. He obviously had a modest, even humble demeanor, combined with a great willingness to help and a broad knowledge that far exceeded the average.
They still exist today, the saints among us, who have understood that it should not be about individual land ownership and personal enrichment, but rather about discovering and respecting the sacred in our neighbors and in creation. If there should be reason for our children and their children to be amazed and grateful.
