Saint-Paul-lès-Dax: Becoming a Positive Energy Territory by 2030 with Photovoltaic Power Plant Development

As part of its ecological transition strategy, the city of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax (Landes) aims to become a positive energy territory by 2030. To achieve this, it plans to develop a photovoltaic power plant which will allow to produce around 5 MWp, the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 2,000 households. This unit will be located on the Candate site, a former inert waste depot operated by Sitcom Côte Sud des Landes. For the feasibility study of the project, the municipality contacted the company Enercoop Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The operation, which is costed at nearly 5 million euros, will be financed largely by the loan. It will also be the subject of crowdfunding.

The site which will host the future installation is now stabilized and an earth dome has also been built to support the solar panels. The construction studies are underway with, in particular, the intervention of a surveyor to define the precise location of the device. The building permit submission phase will follow, for production of the first kilowatts in 2025.
