When Christ was walking around Galilee and performing miracles, Mary Magdalene turned to him for help. He healed her of the disease from which she was suffering, and the grateful Mary followed him until his death. She was the first to see the risen Lord and consoled the mourners with the words: “Christ is risen!” As the first evangelist, she was recognized by the church as equal to the apostles.
