Saint-Martin-d’Heres. The family garden workshops at Fernand Texier are open during the holidays

The neighborhood center Fernand Texier, which offers family garden workshops for parents and children throughout the year, is experimenting with opening during the holidays. She received, Wednesday, February 8, the visit of David Queiros, mayor of Saint-Martin-d’Hères, and Michelle Veyret, the first deputy, who came to see this experiment. “There, we are really on the question of social action, declared the mayor. It must be said that the health crisis has been there, so gradually, we will resume the social bond. For this, for everything related to the activity of neighborhood centres, we have increased in power. What is important is to be able to involve children and to ensure that parents can also be at their side and perhaps reproduce these educational workshops at home. »

Every Wednesday, the neighborhood center offers gardening activities and indoor educational games to children accompanied by their parents in order to promote intergenerational interactions. Élodie Cleyet, social and family economy adviser at the community center, explained that “the family garden is all year round. Until now, we stopped the workshop during the holidays to do other things, times that were a little stronger. There, it’s rather experimental because we realized that some families also needed to get together during the holidays. So, we leave this weekly time on Wednesday afternoons, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. »

Equitable Wednesdays

While waiting for the children to enjoy their plantations, the Fernand Texier neighborhood center welcomes, at the same time as the workshops, the Échirolloise Équytable cooperative for the distribution of food baskets ordered on the internet. It is a social and solidarity economy structure in short circuit, which relies on a network of local producers located within a radius of 80 kilometers around the Grenoble conurbation. For a membership of 15 euros, people can have access to a wide choice of local products.

Maxence holds the cash register. He explains that “on the website, there are different compositions of baskets which are offered with two types of quantities, the solo which is more for 1 to 2 people each week around 2 to 3 kilos of vegetables, fruits and the duo, where we are going to be on larger families”.
