Saint-Martin-d’Hères. Office presence, an association to learn about IT

It is around its president, Henri Laganier, that members of all ages meet every Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to learn and develop their computer and office automation skills.

From Listening Presence to Office Presence

Far from giving lectures, the choice that is made is to favor training and individual assistance, each participant being able to benefit from a trainer and therefore learn at his own pace and according to his ability to integrate the new techniques of training. ‘computer science. The trainers are all volunteers, most of them retired.

Originally, the association was called Presence Listening and was founded over 35 years ago to welcome newcomers to the town and promote their establishment, in particular by providing them with the information necessary for their installation.

The initiative for the creation of this association came from a group of parishioners and their parish priest. About 25 years ago, with the development and democratization of IT, the association was transformed into an Office Presence, to train in new technologies. It was also at this time that the association “secularized”.

Today, the association is open to people of all ages who cannot find an offer adapted to their needs or their time slots in other associations.

Training for job seekers

Angèle Varoquier, the treasurer, specifies that in addition to the office automation training for members, “we have entered into a financial partnership with Grenoble Métropole to run training courses for job seekers who are sent to us by Pôle emploi. We give them a first introduction to IT, a field that is now essential for practicing any profession. These trainings are done either at the Kateb-Yacine library or at the Trident.
