By June 15, the date on which the National Health Investment Council must examine the “big project” to reorganize the hospitals in Saint-Malo, Dinan and Cancalewe should be clear about the location chosen for the new territorial hospital.
It is the Regional Health Agency which will let you know if it will be built in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérêts in the area Atalanta or in Saint-Malo on the Rainbow Farmlandlocated between the recycling centre, the D2 towards Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes and the Fougerais psychiatric hospital.

The site may be close to economic areas, it is indeed the countryside next to the city. Arc-en-ciel seemed to have been ruled out a few months ago, but this option has returned to the table. And in favoriteif we are to believe the information given to the last supervisory board of the Saint-Malo hospital.
Residents and local operators, for their part, were surprised to learn of it.
Marina Colucci preferred not to wait for the decision to make the voices of opponents to the urbanization of Arc-en-Cieux heard. She launched a petition on the change.org websitewhich currently has 132 signatures.
“This project does not affect me directly, explains this rider. But taking away the livelihood of farmers is inconceivable to me. »
An educational farm next door
Mélanie Guérin, who runs a nearby educational farm, with breeding and boarding for horses, is just as taken aback.
“Why make essential vegetable land disappear, very good land by the way, when Atalante is already fitted out? she wonders.
In fact, the presence of the Goëmar industrial sitewhich has two hectares of land to expand, weighs against Atalante, as does the necessary reorganization of access from Saint-Malo for emergency services and firefighters.
Arc-en-Cieux would have the advantage of being bigger, even if it will have to go through expropriations, which can be long.
Six more minutes for patients coming from Dinan?
“We do not understand why the proximity of Goëmar would be a problem. That would mean that no one could move in next door! Moreover, if it is a question of security, Arc-en-Cieux would bring the hospital closer to Timac. »
As for access, they are not more suitable. This augurs well for major road developments… In short, it’s a whole environment “which would be totally turned upside down by this new hospital”, worries the young woman.
While waiting to be fixed, the petitioners already have allies on the side of Dinan, where the ” collective hospital » is alarmed to see « 15 agricultural hectares sacrificed for a scenario that would lengthen the patient’s journey “by at least 6 minutes” compared to Atalante.
The agricultural world, too, has made its opposition to the project heard, via a letter sent to elected officials, the Prefecture, the Regional Health Agency and the management of the Hospital Group.
