“From the age of 12, my father was working. He was involved in the fruit and vegetable trade, while my grandfather transported the goods.” When, in 1969, Jean tragically loses his life in a road accident, the son, Jean-Pierre, takes up the torch. He decides to create the company’s headquarters in the heart of the industrial zone in Saint-Laurent-du-Var. It was in 1974.

Jean-Pierre Barbero was a workaholic. A fan. A builder.

“With us, the life of the company and the family life are extremely linked. The moments of joy, of sorrow, were spent at work. Children, during the school holidays, we worked – with my sister, my cousin – in its sides. On Sundays, we went fishing, to the beach and in winter, we went up to Auron to ski “.

As a family, Jean-Pierre Barbero was a tribal chief. “A real head of the family … Our captain”, confides his son.

In all transparency, he wishes to specify: “Our father did not die of Covid-19. He had kidney problems. For some time, he was very weak”. Especially since the death of his wife, Danièle. “He was never really the same man again …” It was in July 2013.
