Living in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët for 8 years, Julie Pierre dit Lemarquand china and creates lamps and brooches from recycled objects in parallel with her activity in digital marketing. “My passion for flea markets comes from my dad. My mother and grandmother taught me not to mess things up, ”she says.
A desire to share his creations
“In November 2019, I created strongly the rain with the desire to make my creations and my values known and to confront myself in the eyes of the public and to share, ”she confides. “Creative transformations of abandoned objects” is the slogan she gave it.
In the beginning, I made lamps from old glass globes, aged carved wood and vintage hardware with the aim of giving new life to objects while making them beautiful and useful.
Today, she produces, on order, lamps, which she called the “Lavallée”, made up of large vintage flowers made with wire rope and tights that are destocked or unsaleable.
Brooches and accessories
After the lamps, she started the collage, in the form of paintings and cards with old faded magazines from the 30s to the 70s. “Accumulating a lot of leather scraps, I use them to make brooches and various accessories”, reveals- she does. In recent months, she has specialized in what she called “dirty kids”.
They are collages of little characters taken from old magazines and I make them tell little horrors, in opposition to their baby faces.
These latest creations are brooches, jewelry and cufflinks created by diverting key chains from the 60s. Now, she develops these small collages in cards and posters and even offers to personalize them.
An association of creators in the pipeline
“Last July, I met Astrid at a designer market. A few months later, she contacted me to find out if I would be interested in creating a pop-up store with 3 designers. Since many of us always go further, I joined the small team, ”says Julie Pierre. Together, they set up three projects in Mortain and Isigny-le-Buat. With the second confinement, the first store could not open its doors. Far from being discouraged, they decided to promote their creations in a different way.
We have created a group on Facebook in order to offer our “ephemeral virtual store” creations. We thought about creating an association to facilitate the organization of our small group, events, money management, communication etc. For now, we are still in discussion.
To contact “Long live the rain”, those interested can dial 06 27 91 14 17. Wishing to have an overview of his creations, they can visit the site vivelapluie.com.
