Color and smiles… This is what the members of the Animation Dracénoise association want to see again more than anyone else, by organizing the Saint-Hermentaire festivities, after two years of health crisis. As every Pentecost weekend, the event pays tribute to the patron saint of Draguignan.
According to legend, the latter freed the city from the grip of a dragon which terrorized the entire population, in the Ve century. In 2022, the monster is available in all its forms in the four corners of the town, but it no longer scares anyone. Quite the contrary… It is the emblem of the city, the very city which is preparing to celebrate once again with joy and conviviality around the Grande table set up on Boulevard Clemenceau. Launch of the festivities, therefore, this Saturday, from 7:30 p.m.
1re Race of the minots

“It’s a friendly moment open to all, everyone brings their meal, the wine is unlimited for the purchase of a souvenir glass, there is 1,200 seats!” says Ludivine Vidal, president of the organizing association, enthusiastically. Animated by the Studio des Artistes and the group Just In Band, the party should continue until one o’clock in the morning.
On Sunday, the children will invade the town center on the occasion of the 1re edition of the Race des minots organized by the Duke Athletics, with several departures on the program, from 10 am. The highlight of the show will follow, namely the traditional Flower Corso from 4 p.m. with a night parade scheduled for 9 p.m. It will be followed by a pyrotechnic show and musical entertainment with the Aud & Show orchestra.
“Covid has killed volunteering”

This year, the ten floats made by the Dracénoises associations (1) have the theme “Games and Toys”:
“We have maintained the same theme that was planned for 2020, before the pandemic ruined everything and the associations were forced to close, continues the manager, the Covid has killed volunteering!”.
The opportunity therefore for the president and her husband Aymeric Vidal, treasurer of Animation dracénoise, to already launch an appeal to the various associations of the city of Draguignan for the manufacture of floats, in 2023.
In the meantime, the cheerful team, which spares no effort, is already working on the organization of future events, such as the Oktoberfest (and no doubt there will be many fans!) which will take place on Saturday July 9 at Haussmann park, as well as the soapbox race on Sunday, September 11, in the old town.
