The air quality is “poor” in the Saint-Etienne metropolitan area and the foothills of the Massif Central this weekend.
“Sunday January 14 should be the day when the pollution episode should reach its maximum intensity, particularly in the Rhône valley where the air quality should be poor to extremely poor. Exceedings of the information and recommendations threshold are expected in several areas of the region“, indicates the Atmo AuRA website.
This episode of pollution comes from the weather conditions of recent days with the absence of rain, weak wind, and very cold ground. The rain expected next week should make this phenomenon disappear.
In the meantime, the Loire prefecture has decided to activate the “Level N1” alert, in particular:
-The practice of burning is completely prohibited
-The use of wood and its derivatives as individual supplementary or recreational heating is prohibited
-Temporary reduction in speed by 20 km/h on all roads where the authorized speed limit is normally greater than or equal to 90 km/h for all motor vehicles. Axes whose authorized speed is equal to 80 km/h are limited to 70 km/h
