Saint Denis Celebration in Distroff: Honoring the Nation’s Combatants and Fallen Heroes – A Patriotic Ceremony

This Sunday, October 8, it was in Distroff that the standard bearers of the Thionville group and the surrounding area met to celebrate their patron, Saint Denis. For this 2023 edition, it is one of their highlights of the year, among a number of patriotic ceremonies in which they participate with always the same desire to perpetuate the memory.

After the religious service celebrated in Saint Catherine’s Church, wreath laying was carried out at the War Memorial in the presence of a large audience of national, regional, departmental and local elected officials and the population. Then Manu Turquia, mayor of Distroff, after recalling the story of Saint Denis, greeted “those men and women who, by displaying their flags during commemorative events, pay homage, in the name of the French nation, to the combatants and those who died. You are thus the guardians of the first symbol of the Nation and the Republican motto “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”. »
