Saint-Céré: Diane Tell in concert for the new life of the casino

The artist will be in concert on August 15 at the casino as part of his “Beaches and Mountains” tour. The opportunity to revive the legendary Lot location.

The 60s and 70s have already seen legendary voices such as Nicoletta, Jacques Brel, Françoise Hardy, Johnny Hallyday, and many others appear on the Saint-Céré casino stage. This time, the establishment can add the name of Diane Tell. This performance hall, nicknamed “the Olympia of the Province” by Bruno Cocatrix, still bears witness to its importance in the French cultural landscape. Economic and cultural activity of Saint-Céré, due to its privileged location, Saint-Céré has always benefited from intense economic activity. Who does not remember Pierre Delbos, music lover and director of this beautiful performance hall, where everyone gave themselves, for a moment, at the end of the thirty glorious years, an air of celebrity! It is this friendly atmosphere of summer evening at the Saint-Céré Casino that the entrepreneur Xavier Gambade wishes to rekindle by producing a great lady of French song, musician, author-composer and of Canadian origin, Diane Tell. Multiple hits, one of the most famous of which is undoubtedly “Ah si j’étais un homme”. Then aged 19, Diane Tell wrote this huge hit in 1981 for the Festival de la chanson française in Spa, Belgium, where she represented Canada.

Diane Tell is a Quebec artist, singer, composer, videographer and photographer, self-taught and above all charismatic. Known for her profound lyrics and unique voice, she manages her career with strength and conviction. Xavier Gambade and Diane Tell became friends through their professional activities. Their shared passion for music and culture led them to collaborate on the Saint-Céré Casino renaissance project. Reviving this place means making our city shine beyond our regions. “And if Diane Tell agreed to be the Casino’s patron, I think the residents of Saint-Céré would be very honored!” The project benefits from the support of Nicolas Bouysset, who renamed the Casino’s cultural bar Le Dionysos. “Nicolas, just like Pierre Delbos in the early days, does everything he can to keep this place alive all year round,” explains Xavier. Their collaboration is a guarantee of success for the renaissance of this legendary venue in the Casino. From this place full of talent, it is about creating a space dedicated to contemporary talents and French-speaking musical artists, restoring the festive and cultural soul of the Casino, making this room an exceptional place classified among the sites to visit. But also promoting contemporary talents and artistic diversity.
