Saint-Céré. Blood donation: a very encouraging first collection of the year

Due to the establishment of the Covid-19 vaccination center at the Saint-Céré multipurpose room, this Monday February 15, the first blood drive of 2021 was difficult to set up for the volunteers of the Saint-Céré blood donation association.

Christiane Roquet, the president, specified: “Despite the constraints, linked to the curfew at 6 p.m., that of traveling outside the donation center, this collection went very well. However, this would not have been possible without the active participation of Tristan Zanchi, director of the MjC social center and his team. She also asked for a big investment from our team of volunteers “.

In terms of health, the EFS doctors had developed this improvised donation center in strict compliance with the protocol related to the fight against Covid-19. In terms of results, it was a very good collection since 97 donors came forward, including four first-time donors. 91 could be sampled. This assessment is more than correct for this period of the year when the weather conditions and the fear of the pandemic are handicapping factors. It is due to an excellent poster campaign and the installation of banners carried out upstream by the dynamic association of blood donation from Saint-Cerein. The fact remains that the needs are enormous and far exceed the quantities collected.

During our visit to the opening of this new donation center, about ten people submitted to the protocol managed by the four nurses from the EFS who assisted the doctors. The friendly, fully satisfied with this fundraising, always calls new donors. In Saint-Céré, a donation lasts 35 minutes on average.

In view of the vaccination campaign, the next collection will also take place at the MJC social center.
